Jessie James was reasonably successful and included Wanted an album track that made it to in the Top 40 of the singles charts. Decker has always been known as a "country" artist but this album was made and sold in a way that appeals to the pop market. Two more singles off the album stiffed Decker struggled with the label's executives to have more control over her music and the next single Boys in the Summer was an album that was more country-oriented. Decker made her debut album with two titles: Sweet American Dreams or Daughter of a Gypsy. Mercury decided to put it back on the shelf after the first three singles failed to make it onto the country charts. Decker then was let go from the contract.
