April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4 in 1995) began her musical journey as a 7th grader when she took guitar and piano classes. When she was in seventh grade she began to take guitar and piano classes. It sparked her interest in songwriting. At 14 old, she dedicated long hours creating song ideas and perfecting the music. Soon after she began taking excursions to write with her father, who lived in NY and LA. April began also to incorporate different topics related to some of her classmates who struggle in the area of bullying by peers and teen suicide in the song"Take" my Hand. Lockhart has her own following and is a lifestyle blogger at the renowned Ilia clean beauty brand. The disability she has is part of her identity, but it's not the entire of the picture. Lockhart's profile on Instagram doesn't cover up her disability, but it does not focus solely on it. It's a message. It is important to remember that each of us has numerous faces. Our identities are varied and we are much more than our bodies. Lockhart has stated on video that she doesn't wish to be defined solely by her disability. She does not want to become an advocate for disabled people who only talks about that. There are a lot of aspects of Lockhart. It doesn't affect my everyday life. Everything is normal and I have learned to adjust. It's a big aspect of my existence, therefore it's important that we talk about the subject. The journey of self-acceptance that Lockhart has taken is one that can last an entire lifetime. She is an inspiration in this regard. Lockhart admits to having gone through phases where she felt uncomfortable in dressing in certain styles that exposed her arms. She now wears whatever she wants. And she posts pictures on social media. One of the keys to self-love for her is the fact that it's not a destination. It's a long journey. I don't think you ever get there. It is important to have people around you who are aware of and can relate to you. They will be the ones to ask what you worry about?
