As I was a mom with one child with me, and other babies with me in the cradle would work 12 hour shifts grinding floors and cutting off wallpaper. Ha! The house was starting to look good, but there were a few things to be done. It would take time, money and of course my favourite shopping experience to complete the interior of this house. To stay within budget, I began taking my kids to estate sales in search of diamonds. The routine we had for the week consisted of walking from Thursday to Saturday through garage and estate sales to purchase a mix of old and new pieces and then I would spend weekends painting and sanding the driveway. My passion for restoration of furniture began when I saw a style similar to this. After our home was fully completed, I was unable to stop! At the local market I set up a little space and sold some pieces. It was possible to expand my space because I owned many more pieces than I could use. Then I began hosting open houses in my home which saw over 1 000 guests would come through in a single weekend and could buy anything they saw on the ground floor. My venture Growing Days began here. Growing Days wasn't just an extremely successful company, it was as well my family. I was finding that balance between what it took starting a new venture and be a mommy too. Growing Days just seemed to fit. Nora, my 4th kid was born in the year 2013. Though I was content with the direction my business went, I was feeling like I was in need of some time off. I took a pause from creating vintage furniture and also slowed my pace in order to stay at home and take care of the kids. At the time, it was what I wanted. However, after just a couple of minutes I began to hear my phone ringing. I was getting calls from people needing help with the interior decoration and remodeling. They were mostly people who visited my house for furniture. While I was working I began adding clients in a series of. It wasn't too long before I had multiple clients and ran an extremely successful business of home renovation. You would probably have made me laugh if you told me it would be the foundation of the DIY Network tv series. In fact, I laugh a little when I remember the episode.
